Flashpoint faces both external and internal challenges in delivering timely intelligence to customers.

Users struggle with accessing relevant, up-to-date data across multiple areas of the platform, often finding it outdated by the time they review it. They seek a consolidated, real-time feed of key information, tailored to their interests and easily accessible from the dashboard.

Internally, analysts grapple with inefficient processes involving multiple tools and long production times, such as the 7-hour effort to create summaries, which slows down the delivery of critical insights to customers.

Process

Discovery Phase - Internal Stakeholder Interviews

Met with internal teams, including Product, Engineering, Sales, and Intelligence Analysts. Each interview was split into two parts: knowledge gathering and discussions around future expectations for content sharing.

Identified two key problems:

  1. Customers need quick access to customizable, snackable intelligence.

  2. Internal analysts need to streamline inefficient processes for collecting and disseminating intelligence.

Solution Exploration:

Discussed potential features like a consolidated dashboard for customers to easily access relevant intelligence, collaboration features for sharing knowledge, and AI-driven summaries to condense insights over time.

Ideation and Next Steps:

Planned to begin wireframing and ideation sessions to refine the UX.

Feedback sessions with stakeholders and customers were scheduled to de-risk the design approach.

Usability Testing:

Committed to user testing and creating high-fidelity mockups to ensure the design meets user needs before moving to development.

Final Implementation Planning:

Outlined the steps to finalize the design, including building consensus and preparing for Quarter 4 implementation.

Proposed Solutions

Proposed Solutions

Consolidated View for Customers

Solution: Create a one-stop dashboard where customers can easily access and manage relevant intelligence based on their industry, region, or interests. This would include "snackable" content (small, digestible pieces of information) in a format similar to a Twitter feed.

Why: Customers currently have to navigate multiple areas of the platform and even check email to find relevant intelligence, often encountering outdated information. A consolidated, real-time view would improve their efficiency and make it easier to stay informed.

Streamlined Workflow for Analysts

Solution: Develop a more efficient experience for analysts to collect, create, and share threat intelligence quickly. This includes making it easier to publish bite-sized content while maintaining existing workflows.

Why: Internal processes are currently inefficient, requiring analysts to use multiple tools and spend considerable time (up to 7 hours for a Daily Intelligence Summary) to compile intelligence. Streamlining this would save time, allow analysts to focus on other tasks, and increase content output.

The future solutions

AI-Driven Summaries:

  • Solution: Introduce AI-generated summaries to roll up snackable content over different periods (e.g., daily, weekly, or monthly trends).

  • Why: Since the content is often small and fragmented, AI summaries would provide a higher-level view of trends and insights, making it easier for users to see key takeaways across time.

Collaboration Features:

  • Solution: Introduce features that allow both internal analysts and customers to collaborate on intelligence discovery, similar to a shared workspace.

  • Why: Collaboration could improve intelligence gathering by leveraging collective knowledge. However, this requires careful design to manage privacy concerns and prevent overburdening analysts with too much engagement.
